Description: The Whole Artist Approach. Expand your connections in the Chicago Dance Community. Join us to explore the unique secondary and post-performance career needs of dancers in the Midwest. Our second annual gathering of dancers in Chicago will provide opportunities to create connections within the dance community. Come and identify aspects of yourself as Dance Artist that are a valuable resource in the World of Work.
Eligibility: All dancers – whether they are still dancing, staying in the dance field, preparing for a transition, already transitioned or exploring other industries. You do not have to be a Career Transition For Dancers client or union member to attend.

11:30am: Check-in
12:00pm-2:15pm: Making Connections with Each Other, Yourself and Career Transition For Dancers. Learn about the successful career counseling Services and Programs of Career Transition For Dancers that are available to all dancers, of all styles and at all stages of their career development. Presented by Maryellen Langhout, MA, LPC, NBCCC, Career Counselor.
Keynote Speaker - Harrison McEldowney, world renowned choreographer and Creative Director of Wilson Dow Group. 1998 Ruth Page Award for choreography, 1999 the first Prince Prize (Prince Charitable Trusts, Chicago), commissioning an original work.
Make connections with dancers from all over the Chicago area. Take a holistic approach as you think about yourself as an artist now. Begin to think about a future that could move you in many ways. Presented by Suzie Jary, MSW, LCSW, TEP, Client Services Consultant.
2:15pm-2:45pm: Complimentary light refreshments
2:45pm – 3:00pm: Plenary Speaker - Ron De Jesus, Artistic Director of Ron de Jesus Dance, Twyla Tharps’ Movin’ Out, Hubbard Street Dance Company, 2008 Carbonell Award for best choregraphy for the Maltz Jupiter Theater's musical production of "The Full Monty" in Jupiter, FL., 2006 & 2007 New York Musical Theater Festival Award for Excellence for best choreography.
3:30pm-4:30pm: Telling not Selling: Rehearse your communication skills with "30 second sound bites" that tell your skills and talents. Telling not selling is a great chance to practice thinking quickly on your feet during interviews or in networking situations. Maryellen Langhout, MA, LPC, NBCCC, Career Counselor.
4:45pm-6:00pm: Dancers Speak about Expanding and Transitioning:
Hear from dancers who have stayed in the performing arts field or have transitioned into new fields. Dancers will have a chance to interact with panelists and ask them questions about their transition experience. Presented by Suzie Jary, MSW, LCSW, TEP, Client Services Consultant.

Career Transition For Dancers is a nonprofit organization that enables dancers to define their career possibilities and develop the skills necessary to excel in a variety of disciplines.
About us: Founded in 1985, Career Transition For Dancers is a nonprofit organization that enables dancers to define their career possibilities and develop the skills necessary to excel in a variety of disciplines. With offices in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago and a mobile National Outreach Project, we have provided over 50,000 hours of individual and group career counseling and awarded millions of dollars in educational and certification program scholarships and entrepreneurial support. Outside of the organization's 5,000 active dancer-clients, we have helped thousands of dancers in 47 states take their first steps in discovering rewarding second careers. Career Transition For Dancers also provides dancers with specialized services that include transition seminars and workshops, peer support groups, resource centers, a toll-free national career counseling hotline, a website, and a National Career Network.
